This is a standard plumbing compliance component built into every unit.</p><h3 id="what-is-a-check-valve">What is a check valve?</h3><p>A check valve is a one-way valve that prevents water from flowing backwards through the showerhead and into the water supply &#x2014; a requirement under cUPC plumbing standards in many states and municipalities.</p><h3 id="handheld-sets-handheld--holder">Handheld sets (handheld + holder)</h3><p>Handheld sets include two check valves:</p><ul><li><strong>Handheld showerhead</strong> &#x2014; includes a check valve with an integrated flow regulator, located at the bottom connection point of the handheld.</li><li><strong>Shower holder</strong> &#x2014; includes a check valve only, located at the holder connection.</li></ul><h3 id="handheld-only">Handheld only</h3><p>Handheld-only products include one check valve &#x2014; the check valve with integrated flow regulator built into the bottom of the handheld.</p><h3 id="can-the-check-valve-be-removed">Can the check valve be removed?</h3><p>No &#x2014; the check valve is a permanent, factory-installed component and is not designed to be removed. Removing it would put the product out of compliance with applicable plumbing codes.</p>

Do our handheld showerheads have a check valve?

Minimum: 8.5 inches from the top of the shower arm to the ceiling. Recommended: 9 inches if your setup allows. The 8.5" minimum corresponds to the swing radius of the handheld when it pivots upward in the bracket. Anything less and the handheld will

Anything less and the handheld will contact the ceiling as you angle it.</p><p>The extra half inch (9&quot; total) gives you a small installation buffer so the handheld moves comfortably through its full range of motion without scraping or catching.</p><h2 id="how-to-measure">How to measure</h2><p>Measure from the&#xA0;<strong>top of the shower arm</strong> (where it exits the wall) straight up to the ceiling. If that distance is 8.5&quot; or more, you&apos;re set.</p><h2 id="if-you-have-less-than-85-of-clearance">If you have less than 8.5&quot; of clearance</h2><p>The handheld won&apos;t be able to pivot fully upward in the bracket.
