How to Replace Your Shower Trim PlateUpdated a few seconds ago
This guide covers the removal of your old trim and the installation of the replacement plate.
Note: These instructions apply to all Hammerhead Showers trims, even if the model shown in the diagrams differs from your specific unit.
Part 1: Removal Instructions
Loosen the Handles: Start by removing the decorative cover buttons found on the underside of the handles. Then, use the Allen wrench (2) to loosen the handle set screws.
Remove the Handles:
Slide the main valve handle (3) off of the square cartridge stem (4).
Slide the diverter handle (5) off of the splined cartridge stem (6).
Remove the Plate:
Once both handles are removed, pull the escutcheon plate (7) away from the wall.
To do this, start by releasing the top edge of the escutcheon, then pull it straight off the two valve bodies.
Clear Debris: If the old rubber gaskets remain stuck to the wall, remove them and set them aside.
Part 2: Installation Instructions
Prepare the New Plate: Confirm that the 2 rubber gaskets are firmly attached to the rear of the new escutcheon (8).
Mount the Plate:
Align the escutcheon plate so the smaller hole is positioned at the top.
Angle the top edge of the plate toward the wall (9) before pressing it in and onto the two valve bodies.
Reinstall Handles:
Slide the diverter handle (10) onto the splined cartridge stem (11).
Slide the main valve handle (12) onto the square cartridge stem (13).
Secure the Hardware: Insert the decorative cover buttons (14) into the underside of the handles. Use the Allen wrench (15) to tighten the handle set screws.
Ensure a Seal: Finally, press the escutcheon plate firmly against the wall surface to ensure a snug fit and moisture seal (16).
