Are the teak shower mats and benches slip resistant? Do they slide on tiles?Updated 3 months ago
Teak wood is known for its natural resistance to water and moisture, which helps it maintain its structural integrity in wet environments like showers. However, while teak has some inherent slip-resistant qualities due to its texture, it can still become slippery when wet, especially if it is polished or treated with oils.
Using grips or a non-slip mat underneath a teak mat in the shower can provide additional safety, especially for preventing slips and falls. It's a good idea to consider adding grips for extra stability, particularly in a wet and potentially slippery environment.
Please note, we do not provide or install grips/pads under our mats. However, they can be easily installed — these are readily available at hardware stores. Note they will add height to the mat.
As for our benches, we include a small packet including plastic gliders and stainless screws. Installing the gliders is optional. This will lift the bottom of the legs from your surface and helps prevent soap residues and the natural oils of the teak wood from pooling, and allows more air circulation and help dry the bottom of the legs. If your surface is light colored and porous such as white grout, we would suggest installing them. If not, we would suggest using the product without, and if you feel over time raising the teak will help, you can always install later on. Keep in mind we suggest drilling a small hole before screwing in the screws.
