Troubleshooting: Installation issues for the shower valve and trimUpdated 11 days ago
If you're encountering issues when installing your shower valve and trim set please review the following troubleshooting steps:
1. Preliminary Checks
- Ensure the valve is installed the right way up. The back of the valve has indicators for "up" and "down."
- Check that the check valves are open. They should be turned counter-clockwise. The factory setting is open.
2. Verify Water Supply
- Confirm water is coming from both the hot and cold lines. This is a pressure-balancing cartridge, and it requires water from both sides to function.
- If water is not coming from one side:
- This indicates an issue with that specific water line.
3. Handle and Cartridge Orientation
- Ensure the cartridge is installed in the correct orientation:
- The pins on the cartridge must align with the holes in the valve.
- Confirm you are lifting/turning the handle correctly as per the valve's instructions.
4. Flush the Lines
- Remove the cartridge.
- Flush the lines to clear any debris.
- Reinstall the cartridge and test again.
5. Check for Clogged Cartridge
- If there is still no water:
- Remove the cartridge again.
- Test each water line individually to ensure water flows through them.
- If water flows correctly from both sides, the cartridge may be clogged (likely during installation). Replace or clean the cartridge.
