Brushed gold is one of the hardest finishes to coordinate across brands — unlike chrome or matte black, there's no industry standard for what it looks like. Several factors affect how a finish appears:

• PVD process — longer chamber time produces a deeper, richer gold; shorter produces a lighter, more yellow tone
• Brushing depth — fine brushing creates a smoother, more satin look; coarser brushing reads as more textured and matte
• Size and shape — a large rain head and a small valve trim reflect light differently, so even identical finishes can look slightly different at a glance
• Lighting — warm light makes gold warmer; cool or natural light reads more neutral. The same fixture can look noticeably different in a showroom vs. your bathroom

Our current Brushed Gold finish sits on the deeper, warmer end of the spectrum. Here's how it compares:

• Kohler Vibrant Moderne Brushed Gold — Closest match. Similar warm tone and finish depth. ✅
• Moen Brushed Gold — Runs more orange/warm. Not a great side-by-side match. ⚠️
• Delta Champagne Bronze — Has a reddish-bronze undertone. Notably different. ❌
• Glacier Bay Brushed Gold — Lighter and thinner finish quality. Not a match. ❌

Why does this happen? Most quality fixtures use PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) — a vacuum-coating process that bonds metal to the surface. Longer chamber time = darker finish. Shorter = lighter. Each brand controls this differently, so the same finish name can look different across brands.
